Hearts Cry/Heart's Cry

Leading up to this day, I had gone to my first worship practice, then had my first session in service. At the rehearsal, I received a prophetic word that I would draw what was happening in the spiritual to reveal to others in the physical. I was also told I draw the dreams people’d been having and had only told God about. I took these words to my heart for safekeeping. At the end of the practice, I had drawn a beautiful woman dancing in a flowing red dress. Her face glimmered with gold, her hair was blue and purple curls. A young woman came and asked what I’d drawn. I showed her. “It’s beautiful!” she exclaimed, and I quietly responded, “It’s you.” Tears welled in my eyes as the peace of the Holy Spirit filled the space. Peace, and joy. She shrieked, gasped, babbled, and generally freaked out. If you know her, then you know this is pretty standard. When she’d calmed down just enough to speak instead of stammer, she showed me her phone. And lo, there was a flowing red dress in her amazon shopping cart. She was going to buy it to dance in. The drawing was the confirmation she’d needed, when she’d hesitated and questioned God’s plan for her.

Fast forward a few weeks, and it’s time for me to draw onstage for the second time. As I set up my supplies, I looked out across the vast sanctuary and spotted a beautiful woman in a flowing red dress. “Go to her. Tell her she’s beautiful.” I put my things down and rushed over to my radiant friend and embraced her. As I gushed over her beauty and faithfulness, I noticed the lights shining over her, making her hair appear blue and purple.

“You look just like the drawing,” I told her as our eyes threatened tears. With a final embrace, I raced back to take my position at the drawing easel.

As I prayerfully put pencil to paper, the vision of a woman dancing in a scarlet dress appeared in my mind’s eye. She glowed with the presence of the Holy Spirit, and He danced with her, weaving golden light around her. Then I saw a second figure. Sad, heart bared, pleading on her knees, not daring to raise her eyes to look at her King. Even in her sorrow,

she was green with new life, peaceful, deep blues flowed through her shadows, and the presence of the Father wrapped around her, ready to draw her back to Him, as the Living Water washed over both women. Praising and weeping, two hearts crying out uniquely, but in unison.

After service, I was told these things had occurred right behind me. A woman in a scarlet dress, my beautiful friend, had danced for the Lord with all her heart, while another woman, unknown to all, it seemed, wept on her knees, hair falling over her shoulder. Head down, not looking up at her King.

Truly, God had given me something more precious than gold or silver. He had given me the stories of His children to tell, to share, to hold in my hands and lift up in prayer before giving them back to Him. He let me see their heart’s cry.
